I had a very fun time when I went to Universal Studios Hollywood with my mother, father, my aunt, and my brother. My favorite ride was the Jurassic Park ride that I would highly recommend. (Warning: You get wet.) At first, it just starts as a slow peaceful ride through a stream, but then something goes wrong and a big t-rex comes out and then you immediately return to the peaceful stream again. (Sorry, no spoilers, it’s really fun and exciting).
My brother’s favorite ride was the Harry Potter ride. It is a fun simulator in which you get to experience the ride with Harry as he goes through some of his adventures with dragons and Quidditch matches. After the ride, my brother and I shared a Butterbeer (non-alcoholic; very expensive). My brother highly recommends this if you are or aren’t a Harry Potter fan.
One of my most favorite shows that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED was the Animal Show. The trainers show you had the dogs, cats, birds, mice, and even raccoons react to hand motions given by the trainer behind the set. We even saw the dog (named Buddy) from the chewy.com commercial. My brother loved the Special Effects Show where the actors and stunt doubles did a fight scene and even put someone on fire (with safety).
We had also met a couple of characters from movies. We met Donkey from Shrek (not real, but it wasn’t a recording). Donkey sounded exactly like he did in the movie and he could see us and talk to us. We also had met Gru from Despicable Me (he didn’t talk though).
The last thing we did was go to Water World (similar to the Special Effects Show). It was a real 3D fight scene like it was from a movie. There was real fire and high dives. My mother and my brother met the actors after the show.
I rate Universal Studies a 100/100 because it was a very exciting place to visit. Be sure to go there if you are in LA-Hollywood, CA region!

Looking for a new show to watch? Read about The Flash to see if this show is right for you!
Barry Allen is the fastest man alive (well he thinks so). After a man named Harrison Wells made a particle accelerator that blew up, energy from that detonation was thrown into the sky and that in turn seeded a storm cloud that created a lightning bolt that struck Barry Allen (The Flash). Now we don’t want to give to much away, but explaining The Flash is like explaining a 50 page essay--there is so much to tell and you do not know where to start!
When Barry was a child his mom was murdered by a mystery man in a yellow suit. The cops blamed Barry’s dad for the murder and his dad got a life sentence in prison, called Iron Heights. Barry was 11 when he was adopted by his best friend Iris Ann West and her father Joseph "Joe" West. When Barry got struck by lightning he went into a coma for 9 months and when he woke up he met his two future best friends, Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow.
Overall in our opinion The Flash is an amazing T.V. show and if you’re into superhero/sci-fi shows, we say watch it. Also the actors that portray the show are Grant Gustin that plays Barry Allen, Candice Patton that plays Iris Ann West, Tom Cavanagh that plays all Harrison Wells, ( yes there are multiple Harrison Wells) Jesse L. Martin that plays Joe West, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. If you’re interested in watching The Flash you can watch it on Netflix and or on an app called The CW. If you are all caught up, then you can watch The Flash on channel 11 at 8:00 pm on Tuesdays.

We compared drugstore makeup under $5.00 to “designer” makeup products over $10.00 to see if there was a big difference in quality. For our drugstore makeup we used: Wet n’ Wild Coloricon blush in “Pearlescent Pink” ($3), “Wet n’ Wild Coloricon” eyeshadow in “Don’t Steal My Thunder” ($4), Wet n’ Wild mascara “Mega Length” ($1), and Wet n’ Wild liquid eyeliner “Graphic Track” ($4). For our “designer” makeup products we used: Physicians Formula Powder Palette blush in “Blushing Rose” ($14), Too Faced eyeshadow palette in “Natural Matte” (34$), L’oreal Paris Voluminous Curved Brush mascara “P500 Black Brown” ($22), and Rodial eyeliner “Black” ($16).
The drugstore blush was not very pigmented (not much color), but was easy to apply. The designer blush by Physicians Formula had a consistent, bright color. The drugstore eye shadow was creamy and had a little fallout. The designer eye shadow was loose at some points but had a matte finish at the end. Before we applied both the drugstore and designer mascara, first we curled the lashes and then applied two coats. When we put the drugstore mascara on it added a lot of volume to the lashes. With the designer mascara it left the lashes luscious. Overall, there are positives and negatives to both the designer and drugstore brands...it all depends on your budget!

Unsure what you want to do in the future? Here are 5 steps on being a successful person. We interviewed Ms. Christel, a student teacher in our school, to form a list of steps you can take to accomplish your goal of becoming a teacher or any other career of the sort. Here are our step-by-step instructions on succeeding.
Step 1: Set achievable goals.
Yes, goal setting... you hear it every year, from every teacher. But they are not wrong. Setting goals separates you from a 30 year old person who is still deciding on a career. Goal setters do not waste time on things that do not shape them as a person. Ms. Christel sets achievable goals for herself. In fact, she has been setting them since she was in Carle Place Middle School.
Step 2: Share your passion.
Spend time with friends who accept you and respect your passion. Do not sit with kids that you know will make fun of you for your dreams and goals. Choose your friends wisely. Friends are not the only ones who you can share your passion with. Don’t forget family, and teachers. Ms. Christel was inspired by her mom and brother, who helped her throughout her teaching journey.
Step 3: Save the drama for no one’s mama.
School isn’t all about being popular, and being in the spotlight. Sometimes it’s okay to sit in the sidelines for a while. You don’t always need to be the star of the show. In fact, you can learn more by just observing the crowd then being in the crowd. Take it from us, or you’ll be the one trampled next Black Friday.
Step 4: The more, the merrier.
Every single extra curricular activity that you do starting from the beginning of school until now can be something else added to your résumé. Extra activities are also a form of experience for the future. Yes, being on the debate team in 9th grade may be seen by a professor from your dream university. Ms. Christel did and still does plenty of extra curricular activities such as, being the vice president of honors college, working for the literary magazine, and interviewing professors.
Step 5: Work hard now, and work less in the future.
If you are planning on doing something in the future, start today. Work as hard as you can today to alleviate the stress of tomorrow. Each and every person in our faculty have worked hard and succeeded. Ms. Christel is a role model. With a great G.P.A, making lesson plans everyday for us, and being graded every Thursday after school, Ms. Christel is a hard worker. If you think you are working hard now, think again.

Miraculous… what? Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (Miraculous Ladybug) is a French T.V show that follows the life of our two main characters, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who are secretly Paris’s own superheros called Ladybug and Cat Noir. When evil comes to ruin your day Ladybug and Cat Noir come to save the day with their magical objects known as their miraculous. Ladybug uses her magical yo-yo while Cat Noir uses his staff. The super hero duo fight the mysterious, unknown supervillin, Hawkmoth. Hawkmoth never shows up in real life, but insteads uses butterflies that are also called akuma's that are absorbed with his black energy to transform average Persians to villains that fight Ladybug and Cat Noir. Though this sounds like another boring superhero T.V show there's something special that makes it so amazing.
As you know the main two characters are Marinette and Adrien who are two teen Persians who live a double life as normal teens and as secrete superheroes. Marrinete is the daughter of the top bakers in Paris and is a fashion designer that creates her own pieces for fun. If she's around Adrien, Marinette is a very clumsy, awkward person. Adrien is a fashion model for his father, Gabriel Agreste. Always locked in his house, Adrien spends most of his life modeling. While the show focuses mainly on Marinette and Adrien, they do have best friends and enemies who are a big part of the show as well. Marinette's best friend is Alya Césaire and Tiki. Alya and Marinette are very close with each other. While Alya is Marinette’s real friend, Tiki is the kwami (protector of the miraculous) that comes with the Ladybug miraculous. Alya is also Ladybug’s biggest fan even with a blog dedicated to Ladybug! Adrien’s best friend is Nino Lahiffe and Plagg. Nino is Adrien's best friend that would do anything to keep Adrien having fun and acting like a teen even though his dad is a cold, no-fun parent. Plagg is Adrien’s kwami that comes with the Cat miraculous.
Every teen also has their enemies, and in this case they have two main villains. Chloé Bourgeois is the mean girl who ruins your life and get whatever she wants. In this case, Chloé has much more power because she is the daughter of the mayor of Paris. While also being Adrien's best friend for their entire life, Chloé must start to become nice if she wants to stay best friends with Adrien. The real villain is Hawkmoth who uses average people's anger or sadness for his power and transforms them into super villains. Though Hawkmoth never shows up to fight in real life Ladybug and Cat Noir know how dangerous he is and how he must be stopped.
Creators of Miraculous and Animations
The amazing creators of Miraculous are Thomas Astruc and Jeremy Zag. Astruc, being the creator and animator, and Zag being the director and producer behind the cartoons. Astruc created the idea by being inspired by a ton of comics and a Japanese lady (not known who) who was wearing a ladybug shirt that started to share sketches with him. Astruc originally planned to make Miraculous a comic book series up until he met Jeremy Zag the C.E.O of ZAG Animations. Working together, the two created a cartoon based on a Ladybug and a Black Cat. The animators decided to first draw Miraculous as a
2D anime but problems quickly popped up as the animators realized that the animation for the Ladybug suit would cause strobing effects which caused the animation to be scrapped and replaced with a CGI animation. Another part of the beginning animations was scrapped, which was a character named Félix that was originally going to be “Adrien” but got scrapped because of him seeming like the basic male lead in shows and they wanted the male lead to be different and unique.
In Miraculous Ladybug there's action and romance. Basically Marinette loves Adrien but when the two are Ladybug and Cat Noir, Cat loves Ladybug but Ladybug can't love him because she loves Adrien but Adrien is Cat Noir and she doesn't know it! Then, when Adrien is Cat Noir he loves Ladybug but she always denies him when he shows his love for her, yet he still loves Ladybug. It hasn't been officially stated by Thomas Astruc that Adrien loves Marinette, but lots of people in the fandom know he loves her too and that they're not just “friends.” Now onto the ships of Marinette, Adrien, Ladybug, and Cat Noir. Ladybug and Cat Noir are Lady Noir. Marinette and Adrien are Arienette (my favorite ship). Ladybug and Adrien are Ladrien. Cat Noir and Marinette are Marichat (chat is french for cat). Ladynoir is the ship we see the most, basically the ship is of Chat flirting with Ladybug and giving her nicknames like ‘bugaboo’, ‘LB’, and most favorited, ‘My lady’. The Arienette ship is made up of Marinette mumbling when she talks to Adrien and Adrien touching her arm once (until season 2). Ladrien is hardly shown in season 1. There is a scene where you see them together is in the episode “The Mime” when they were staring at each other. Last but but least, is Marichat which is Chat just showing off to Marinette and being annoying while Marinette mocks him. The romance is complicated but it starts to makes sense after you watch the show lots of times.
The Future of Miraculous Ladybug
Lots of fans have said that season 1 was the calm before the storm and season 2 will blow you away. So far we know that there are 7 miraculouses, the Fox, Bee, Moth, Peacock, Turtle, and the most powerful miraculouses the Black Cat and Ladybug. We know that the Fox, Turtle, and Bee miraculeuses will be occupied with the friend of Marinette and Adrien’s friends Alya, Nino, and Chloé. There have been statements by Astruc that there is a season 3 in the making as of 2017. Astruc has also said that the Adrienette ship will start to sail in season 2. All we can do now is wait for the new episodes to blow us away!

Kaji Sushi is one of many sushi places that uses fresh sushi. If you and family or friends are looking for a place to either eat or hang out, I highly recommend you come eat here. They have the best, I mean like seriously THE BEST sushi in the world and the service is really good. They make sure that by the time you leave you’re as happy as can be.
One of my personal favorites is the Firecracker sushi. If you have not tried sushi or you think it might taste weird-- come to the Kaji sushi lounge! You’re going to LOVE it!! If you are one of those people who are allergic to some things, don't fret, there are various types of sushi like A California roll. A California roll is a sushi roll, usually made inside-out, containing cucumber, crab meat or imitation crab, and avocado. Sometimes crab salad is substituted for the crab stick, and often the outer layer of rice in an inside-out roll is sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds, tobiko and masago. If you do not think that sounds good either-- it's fine, there are still way more kinds of sushi to try or taste at this restaurant.

We surveyed 15 middle school boys and 15 middle school girls to find out which Halloween costume they prefer. The choices were Pennywise the dancing clown, a sports players, a superhero, a witch/wizard and an inflatable suit /T-Rex.
When we asked the girls which costume they preferred, most of them said they wanted to be the inflatable T-Rex, however when we asked the boys they picked Pennywise the dancing clown. We think that girls went for the inflatable suit because that is not common and it is hilarious to be in a large air-filled suit. After all, Halloween is about fun! We think that the boys wanted to become Pennywise because it is very popular and trending, also it is from the recent movie IT. We hope that our survey can help you think of your own different Halloween costumes!

“And Josh felt a terrible hunger, accompanied by a ferocious rage, burn through him. It washed across his body, until a red mist actually drifted across his eyes, and he was looking at the world through a film of crimson. And then all the creatures in the cells came awake… One by one, all the monstrous creatures… charged. And the Elders turned and fled…” A week ago Josh and Sophie Newman were two regular teenagers in San Francisco. But, that was before they saw Josh’s boss Nicholas Flamel, alias Nick Fleming, fight Dr. John Dee using spheres of energy. Now they have experienced many new, and said to be impossible things. Sophie and Josh have both had their powers awakened, and they have always been close, being twins. But now they find out that they are the twins, the legendary prophesied twins that have the power to save the world or destroy it. The problem is which twin is going to save the world, and which twin is going to destroy it? The events of the past week have led them to encounter many new friends that Nicholas Flamel has introduced them to, for example, Scathach, the warrior maid, and Tsagaglalal, she who watches. Sophie trusts Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel, but Josh doesn’t. In fact he is leaning towards the lying and manipulative Dr. Dee. Dr. Dee promises Josh a world of paradise, but he forgets to mention that he will rule it. So can Sophie reach her brother in time, before he makes the biggest regret in his life? And most importantly can the world as it is today be safe on Sophie’s shoulders?
Two features of the book that I liked the most were the plot and the setting. I liked the plot because if there ever was a time when the characters were settling down another adventure came up. For example, when Sophie just escaped from Coatlicue, the ravenous mother of all gods and first vampire, she had to go on an adventure to try and find her brother! I liked the setting because it is in the twenty-first century, and the author compares the technology that we have today to the ancient Archon and Elder technology. This makes a good comparison because as far as we have advanced in the technology today, the Elder and Archon technology is about five times more advanced! For example the way of transportation, on the Elder island of Danu Talis, was flying saucers called Vimana’s, which is much more advanced than the modes of transportations we have today. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventures and split second escapes! This book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. If you are a reader who enjoys action and adventure this book is definitely for you. To find out the fate of the world read The Warlock!

“She was following the mysterious girl into an alleyway, when suddenly she was shoved against the wall, a knife at her throat.” Georgia Fenchurch is just your average modern day Victorian bookshop owner, or so you think. She is really a member of the secret Archivist Society, in England. The archivist society was almost like a secret police, for they dealt with crimes no average citizen would know about. This time the crime is the murder of a Russian guard who was guarding the Queen’s cousin, princess Kira. Now Georgia must go undercover again to see who was posing a threat to the Royal family, but what happens when everyone has secrets, and no one is who they think they are? And most importantly, will she succeed before the mysterious murderer kills the whole royal family?
Some of the features I liked best about this book were the setting, and the characters. I liked the setting of the book because I thought the Victorian time in England was the perfect setting for a mystery book like this. The Victorian time in England was a hopeful and busy time, and something like the murder of a princess’ guard could go without even being noticed, if it was not for the help of the Archivist Society. Also, I liked the characters in the book because I thought they fit together nicely. There are many types of social classes between the characters, for example Georgi Royal class.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting to find out what happens next. If you are a reader who likes mystery, suspense, action, and adventure this book is definitely a is a middle class citizen, and one of her partners, The Duke of Blackford, is in thefor you. To find out what happens next read The Royal Assassin.

In the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the main character Newt Scamander, brings a suitcase full of magical beasts into New York City. When the suitcase becomes lost, Jacob Kowalski who is a no-maj (or a muggle) accidentally picks it up and is attacked by a creature that bites his neck. The two worlds that J. K. Rowling created in this movie along with her novels, come together when these two men’s lives intersect. Throughout the movie, the creatures often escape and create damage. One creature that looks like a black platypus becomes particularly troublesome when it seeks shiny metals. Niffler is seen stealing money from women’s purses and robbing gold and diamonds from jewelry stores.
Newt, who is British, has come to America to release his most-prized beast, a huge golden bird called Thunderbird, to its original home in Arizona. Newt, a magizoologist, has created a safe place in his magical world, which he and other characters enter through his suitcase. Many interesting beasts live in this world and are protected by Newt. The beasts are scapegoated by villainous characters such as Percival Graves. The force that creates the most destruction is the Obscurus which is a dark, evil force created by the anger felt by a character named Credence. In the end of the movie, the creatures end up saving both the wizarding and mortal worlds from destruction.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie because I am an animal lover and it is clear that Newt is too. I also liked the many action-packed scenes where the beasts swooped through the streets, skies and subway tunnels of New York City. All in all, the movie is action-packed and keeps you entertained throughout!

The novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling was the first book in the Harry Potter series and is a magical and suspenseful book. The interesting imagination Rowling has is fantastic. She creates new worlds, fictional creatures, unimaginable powers, and even a new sport.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is an amazing book. This book is about the beginning of Harry Potter’s new wizard life and the importance of him. Harry is a young boy who is accepted into a school for witchcraft and wizardry called Hogwarts. There, he finds new friends, new teachers, interesting powers, a new life, and many challenges.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is personally my favorite book of the series. I would give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars because of the mysteries and the suspense Rowling creates. I would recommend reading this book if you are into fiction or mystery. Even if you do not like this genre, you should still try reading it! It is a really great book and most people enjoy it.
In conclusion, even though this book came out a while ago, it is never too late to get started on the Harry Potter’s series. With new movies, books, and amusement parks that are Harry Potter-themed, you do not want to miss out on enjoying this book and series!
