By: Claudelle C. Plot Miraculous… what? Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir (Miraculous Ladybug) is a French T.V show that follows the life of our two main characters, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, who are secretly Paris’s own superheros called Ladybug and Cat Noir. When evil comes to ruin your day Ladybug and Cat Noir come to save the day with their magical objects known as their miraculous. Ladybug uses her magical yo-yo while Cat Noir uses his staff. The super hero duo fight the mysterious, unknown supervillin, Hawkmoth. Hawkmoth never shows up in real life, but insteads uses butterflies that are also called akuma's that are absorbed with his black energy to transform average Persians to villains that fight Ladybug and Cat Noir. Though this sounds like another boring superhero T.V show there's something special that makes it so amazing. Characters As you know the main two characters are Marinette and Adrien who are two teen Persians who live a double life as normal teens and as secrete superheroes. Marrinete is the daughter of the top bakers in Paris and is a fashion designer that creates her own pieces for fun. If she's around Adrien, Marinette is a very clumsy, awkward person. Adrien is a fashion model for his father, Gabriel Agreste. Always locked in his house, Adrien spends most of his life modeling. While the show focuses mainly on Marinette and Adrien, they do have best friends and enemies who are a big part of the show as well. Marinette's best friend is Alya Césaire and Tiki. Alya and Marinette are very close with each other. While Alya is Marinette’s real friend, Tiki is the kwami (protector of the miraculous) that comes with the Ladybug miraculous. Alya is also Ladybug’s biggest fan even with a blog dedicated to Ladybug! Adrien’s best friend is Nino Lahiffe and Plagg. Nino is Adrien's best friend that would do anything to keep Adrien having fun and acting like a teen even though his dad is a cold, no-fun parent. Plagg is Adrien’s kwami that comes with the Cat miraculous. Every teen also has their enemies, and in this case they have two main villains. Chloé Bourgeois is the mean girl who ruins your life and get whatever she wants. In this case, Chloé has much more power because she is the daughter of the mayor of Paris. While also being Adrien's best friend for their entire life, Chloé must start to become nice if she wants to stay best friends with Adrien. The real villain is Hawkmoth who uses average people's anger or sadness for his power and transforms them into super villains. Though Hawkmoth never shows up to fight in real life Ladybug and Cat Noir know how dangerous he is and how he must be stopped. Creators of Miraculous and Animations The amazing creators of Miraculous are Thomas Astruc and Jeremy Zag. Astruc, being the creator and animator, and Zag being the director and producer behind the cartoons. Astruc created the idea by being inspired by a ton of comics and a Japanese lady (not known who) who was wearing a ladybug shirt that started to share sketches with him. Astruc originally planned to make Miraculous a comic book series up until he met Jeremy Zag the C.E.O of ZAG Animations. Working together, the two created a cartoon based on a Ladybug and a Black Cat. The animators decided to first draw Miraculous as a 2D anime but problems quickly popped up as the animators realized that the animation for the Ladybug suit would cause strobing effects which caused the animation to be scrapped and replaced with a CGI animation. Another part of the beginning animations was scrapped, which was a character named Félix that was originally going to be “Adrien” but got scrapped because of him seeming like the basic male lead in shows and they wanted the male lead to be different and unique. The Romance In Miraculous Ladybug there's action and romance. Basically Marinette loves Adrien but when the two are Ladybug and Cat Noir, Cat loves Ladybug but Ladybug can't love him because she loves Adrien but Adrien is Cat Noir and she doesn't know it! Then, when Adrien is Cat Noir he loves Ladybug but she always denies him when he shows his love for her, yet he still loves Ladybug. It hasn't been officially stated by Thomas Astruc that Adrien loves Marinette, but lots of people in the fandom know he loves her too and that they're not just “friends.” Now onto the ships of Marinette, Adrien, Ladybug, and Cat Noir. Ladybug and Cat Noir are Lady Noir. Marinette and Adrien are Arienette (my favorite ship). Ladybug and Adrien are Ladrien. Cat Noir and Marinette are Marichat (chat is french for cat). Ladynoir is the ship we see the most, basically the ship is of Chat flirting with Ladybug and giving her nicknames like ‘bugaboo’, ‘LB’, and most favorited, ‘My lady’. The Arienette ship is made up of Marinette mumbling when she talks to Adrien and Adrien touching her arm once (until season 2). Ladrien is hardly shown in season 1. There is a scene where you see them together is in the episode “The Mime” when they were staring at each other. Last but but least, is Marichat which is Chat just showing off to Marinette and being annoying while Marinette mocks him. The romance is complicated but it starts to makes sense after you watch the show lots of times. The Future of Miraculous Ladybug Lots of fans have said that season 1 was the calm before the storm and season 2 will blow you away. So far we know that there are 7 miraculouses, the Fox, Bee, Moth, Peacock, Turtle, and the most powerful miraculouses the Black Cat and Ladybug. We know that the Fox, Turtle, and Bee miraculeuses will be occupied with the friend of Marinette and Adrien’s friends Alya, Nino, and Chloé. There have been statements by Astruc that there is a season 3 in the making as of 2017. Astruc has also said that the Adrienette ship will start to sail in season 2. All we can do now is wait for the new episodes to blow us away!

Reviewed by: Alexa M. “And Josh felt a terrible hunger, accompanied by a ferocious rage, burn through him. It washed across his body, until a red mist actually drifted across his eyes, and he was looking at the world through a film of crimson. And then all the creatures in the cells came awake… One by one, all the monstrous creatures… charged. And the Elders turned and fled…” A week ago Josh and Sophie Newman were two regular teenagers in San Francisco. But, that was before they saw Josh’s boss Nicholas Flamel, alias Nick Fleming, fight Dr. John Dee using spheres of energy. Now they have experienced many new, and said to be impossible things. Sophie and Josh have both had their powers awakened, and they have always been close, being twins. But now they find out that they are the twins, the legendary prophesied twins that have the power to save the world or destroy it. The problem is which twin is going to save the world, and which twin is going to destroy it? The events of the past week have led them to encounter many new friends that Nicholas Flamel has introduced them to, for example, Scathach, the warrior maid, and Tsagaglalal, she who watches. Sophie trusts Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel, but Josh doesn’t. In fact he is leaning towards the lying and manipulative Dr. Dee. Dr. Dee promises Josh a world of paradise, but he forgets to mention that he will rule it. So can Sophie reach her brother in time, before he makes the biggest regret in his life? And most importantly can the world as it is today be safe on Sophie’s shoulders? Two features of the book that I liked the most were the plot and the setting. I liked the plot because if there ever was a time when the characters were settling down another adventure came up. For example, when Sophie just escaped from Coatlicue, the ravenous mother of all gods and first vampire, she had to go on an adventure to try and find her brother! I liked the setting because it is in the twenty-first century, and the author compares the technology that we have today to the ancient Archon and Elder technology. This makes a good comparison because as far as we have advanced in the technology today, the Elder and Archon technology is about five times more advanced! For example the way of transportation, on the Elder island of Danu Talis, was flying saucers called Vimana’s, which is much more advanced than the modes of transportations we have today. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventures and split second escapes! This book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. If you are a reader who enjoys action and adventure this book is definitely for you. To find out the fate of the world read The Warlock! By: Lexie F.

“She was following the mysterious girl into an alleyway, when suddenly she was shoved against the wall, a knife at her throat.” Georgia Fenchurch is just your average modern day Victorian bookshop owner, or so you think. She is really a member of the secret Archivist Society, in England. The archivist society was almost like a secret police, for they dealt with crimes no average citizen would know about. This time the crime is the murder of a Russian guard who was guarding the Queen’s cousin, princess Kira. Now Georgia must go undercover again to see who was posing a threat to the Royal family, but what happens when everyone has secrets, and no one is who they think they are? And most importantly, will she succeed before the mysterious murderer kills the whole royal family? Some of the features I liked best about this book were the setting, and the characters. I liked the setting of the book because I thought the Victorian time in England was the perfect setting for a mystery book like this. The Victorian time in England was a hopeful and busy time, and something like the murder of a princess’ guard could go without even being noticed, if it was not for the help of the Archivist Society. Also, I liked the characters in the book because I thought they fit together nicely. There are many types of social classes between the characters, for example Georgi Royal class. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, waiting to find out what happens next. If you are a reader who likes mystery, suspense, action, and adventure this book is definitely a is a middle class citizen, and one of her partners, The Duke of Blackford, is in thefor you. When the suitcase becomes lost, Jacob Kowalski who is a no-maj (or a muggle) accidentally picks it up and is attacked by a creature that bites his neck. The two worlds that J. K. Rowling created in this movie along with her novels, come together when these two men’s lives intersect. Throughout the movie, the creatures often escape and create damage. One creature that looks like a black platypus becomes particularly troublesome when it seeks shiny metals. Niffler is seen stealing money from women’s purses and robbing gold and diamonds from jewelry stores. Newt, who is British, has come to America to release his most-prized beast, a huge golden bird called Thunderbird, to its original home in Arizona. Newt, a magizoologist, has created a safe place in his magical world, which he and other characters enter through his suitcase. Many interesting beasts live in this world and are protected by Newt. The beasts are scapegoated by villainous characters such as Percival Graves. The force that creates the most destruction is the Obscurus which is a dark, evil force created by the anger felt by a character named Credence. In the end of the movie, the creatures end up saving both the wizarding and mortal worlds from destruction. Overall, I enjoyed this movie because I am an animal lover and it is clear that Newt is too. I also liked the many action-packed scenes where the beasts swooped through the streets, skies and subway tunnels of New York City. All in all, the movie is action-packed and keeps you entertained throughout! By: Cassie Pittoni
The novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling was the first book in the Harry Potter series and is a magical and suspenseful book. The interesting imagination Rowling has is fantastic. She creates new worlds, fictional creatures, unimaginable powers, and even a new sport. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is an amazing book. This book is about the beginning of Harry Potter’s new wizard life and the importance of him. Harry is a young boy who is accepted into a school for witchcraft and wizardry called Hogwarts. There, he finds new friends, new teachers, interesting powers, a new life, and many challenges. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is personally my favorite book of the series. I would give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars because of the mysteries and the suspense Rowling creates. I would recommend reading this book if you are into fiction or mystery. Even if you do not like this genre, you should still try reading it! It is a really great book and most people enjoy it. In conclusion, even though this book came out a while ago, it is never too late to get started on the Harry Potter’s series. With new movies, books, and amusement parks that are Harry Potter-themed, you do not want to miss out on enjoying this book and series! |
