By: Katy B. The crisp fall breeze of 2017 has swept yet another handful of clothing trends into the fashion world. This year´s fall collection is boldly defined by its colors, designs, and of course, layers! The US has evolved dramatically over the years ranging from 2012’s wardrobe of leather outfits and statement pieces with eye-catching prints to the patch denim jeans and cozy sweaters with cutout designs of 2017. Closets across America will be completely refreshed with a new interpretation of fall styles Colors
While basic maroons, navy blues, and grays are vital for the seasonal feeling of fall, vibrant shades such as pale pinks and blues can bring life to any standard outfit. For example, Victoria Beckham shows how to pair a traditional gray with a bold navy blue on the Runway at New York fashion week. Grays can also be easily paired with pale pinks and maroons using statement pieces such as blazers, skinny jeans and/or skirts. However, the fall vibes of 2017 bring forth a more comfy/casual style. Deep red sweaters can provide a gorgeous tone for the whole outfit while remaining along the lines of comfy/casual. A pop of color can change an outfit from dull to lively, especially in the autumnal season. Design Although other seasons adorn in standout patterns and designs, autumn is unique in the sense of its subtleness. Sweaters and jackets of fall are simple yet brilliant. The cut of some sweaters can often times provide a base for the entire outfit. An extended back of a sweater is usually the attraction of the entire outfit complimented by a delicate pair of flats or knee-high boots. As far as patterns are concerned, 2017 has been a year of simplicity, lacking the bright and flashy patterns of past decades. Overall, the cut and shape of a garment provides a major baseline for an ensemble. Layers Of course the most important factor in fall fashion is layers. Some must-have staple pieces for fall this year are a denim jacket, a one colored blazer, jacket, a pair of gold flats, bold colored skinny jeans, etc. Denim jackets always come in handy for outfits that have leggings, and a boldly colored top. Blazers and jackets can be utilized as a simple statement piece for your entire outfit while a pair of gold flats can delicately compliment and entire look. Skinny jeans with loud colors are a great sidekick to neutral colored sweaters. When layering, it is important to recognize too much and too little. For example, with a flannel under a sweater, adding a scarf would cross the boundary of too much, and just a flannel would be much too little. It is also important to recognize colors when layering. Neutrals are always a simple and easy way to layer on top, but to add a pop of color, you can always add some vibrant skinny jeans. Layering is an important and effective way to direct autumnal vibes into your style. Fall is a unique season with distinctive styles. Interpreting these styles is divided between three major factors; colors, designs, and layers. These aspects are interpreted differently each year, making it important to recognize them them each year. America has been swept over with these new styles and apparel across the country has been replaced with the current translations of fall trends of 2017.

By: Caitlynn K. School ends its 2:57, you now have sports. Sports end at 5:00, now you begin to walk home. Now it’s 5:03, and you realize you have homework. You start to calculate how long it's going to take you. You say “well this will take about 30 minutes overall.” Little do you know it's been three hours and you have only finished one thing. Does this scenario sound familiar? Read on to see how to tackle this problem! Doing your homework does not have to take three hours, it can take one hour. One factor that may make your homework last longer is procrastination. Procrastinating is a big problem when it comes to doing homework, so set breaks for yourself. There are actually apps you can download that ration time for you and help to tell you when you should take a break. A good one of these apps is “focus keeper.” This is a free app that could help you pace your homework time. If you are able to pace your homework time, you may be able to complete all your work in a reasonable time. Another thing you should try to do is find a good spot to do your homework. Do not do your homework in a really comfortable spot because you will have a better chance of falling asleep, especially after a long school day. You should be consistent with your homework spot. Whether it be in the school library or at your dining room table, make sure it's the same spot every day. When you find a spot to do your homework, you should bring a snack with you. When doing homework do not have candy, it makes it hard to concentrate. Instead, try fruit and a glass of water. We all usually have a lot of homework, so a good technique would be to do a hard assignment first and then an easier task. You want to keep this pattern going until you finish everything. Personally, when doing school work silence drives me absolutely crazy. I prefer to listen to music instead of watching some video online. People all have different preferences for study music. Some people like music with words and lyrics, or you can listen to music without lyrics like classical music. Whatever helps you is what you should go with. If you get too tempted with music to sing along or hum, you can try a podcast of some sort. Lastly, I recommend having a system of organization for completed homework. You should make places in your binders or folders of where you are going to put your unfinished and finished work. Make sure to formulate your system around your work space. Homework doesn't have to take hours just stay organized and you will do great! |
